    Cookie Crumbs

We’ve all seen the pictures, those perfectly browned rippling circles of cookie goodness. Piled up in mountains waiting to be devoured still warm from the oven. Cookies are one of those things that we all have our own idea of what we think constitutes the perfect cookie. Thick, thin, chewy, crispy, bitesize, huge, sweet or fruity – the possibilities are endless. Personally, I like my cookie to be crispy round the edges and gooey in the middle. I’d go as far as saying slightly undercooked (SHRIEK!) They need to be soft and gooey, but absolutely not thick and stodgy. It also has to have something with a bit of crunch…

    Macaron Moochings

The warm sun was beaming down on my skin and for the first time this year it felt like Spring was around the corner. It was half term and I found myself in Covent Garden, London indulging in one of my favourite past times. People watching. I absolutely love being in London and I adore pottering around Covent Garden. Most school breaks I find myself there, and with Mr D based there for work it’s a perfect excuse to go down. Off he goes to work and off I go exploring. I can meander around, taking my time to look at rubbish and whilst he usually has the patience of…

    Lemon Drizzle Cake

Easy Peasy Lemon Drizzle Cake   This recipe really is easy peasy lemon squeezy! The hardest part is buying good lemons! Make sure they are unwaxed and feel like they have a thick rind. Good lemons are pretty hard to come by in UK supermarkets, they are always tiny and have a paper thin skin which makes it impossible to get a good grating of zest from and this is where most of the flavour comes from so it’s kinda important! If you too suffer from a rubbish lemon selection and dont have the budget or patience to find those perfect Amalfi lemons from those ultra trendy (ultra expensive) whole…

Vegan Chocolate Tart – GBBO Vegan Week

Let’s talk about vegan week.   It caused quite a stir didn’t it? Unless you’ve been living under a rock you’ll know The Great British Bake Off is on TV at the minute and last week was ‘vegan week’. It seemed to really split viewers right down the middle. Some were ecstatic that the show was highlighting a trend that is becoming increasingly more popular, and others thought the whole thing was ridiculous.    I won’t beat around the bush, I’m not vegan and have no intention of being so. A bit like the time my mate at school tried to get me to go vegetarian. I agreed and lasted…

    Fool-proof Banana Bread

Yummy moist holiday inspired banana bread!   This just HAD to be my first recipe. This is my show stopper, my fool-proof go-to-never-fails-everyone-loves-it cake. It may not be the biggest most beautiful eye catching cake but trust me, what it lacks in appearance it more than makes up for in taste. Scroll down for the recipe. This past year, I spent most of my school holidays in Malta with my partner who worked there until recently. He introduced me to a coffee shop in Valletta which sold not only the tastiest coffee in Malta but also possibly the best banana bread in the world. When sat in class the last…
